1960's Essay (The Town Of No Return)

How Was Media Language Used To Show The Social Context Of The 1960's? Camerawork & Mise-En-Scene: During the Avengers 1960 episode, The Town Of No Return, camerawork is used to show context of the 1960's. This is shown in the first scene where the door bell labelled, 'Mrs Emma Peel' is pressed by a gentleman with a cane. Firstly, the cane connotes the man in this scene to be one of upper class without even seeing his face. Also from this scene, we can see that the woman whose apartment the male is visiting is a married woman, 'Mrs Emma Peel'. Next, we see a tilt shot from the door bell introducing a 1960's pop art eye. This eye shows both 1960's pop art but also quite a flirtatious effect seeing as the eye - although not human - has a made-up effect which can be seen as a flirtatious approach towards the male. Next, we see the male who previously pressed the door bell with the cane. He is presented as a man of power with up-standing authorit...

Summer 2018 Mock DIRT (music)

Image
Question 2: Q) Explain one way in which music videos use media language to differ from each other. Refer to one example of contrasting media language in two music videos you have studied to support your answer. A) In the music video for the song, Not Letting Go, by Tinie Tempah and Jess Glynne, mise-en-scene is used to portray females as objects of desire for males on scene and in the audience. This is achieved through costumes and camera shots and movements. This is shown through the imaging of females in the video wearing certain clothes and the camera types involved. The cloths that are worn by females on screen are 'revealing'. This combined with the medium-long shot shows off the female in question. Although, in the other music video, Picking Up The Pieces, by Paloma Faith, the clothes used in the video is different to Not Letting Go. The clothes worn by the main woman, Paloma Faith, are formal cloths which portrays her as an independant woman. This combined withe ...

Lego Movie Narative

Equilibrium:   Russian theorist, Tzvetan Todorov, suggests that all narratives follow a three part structure. They begin with equilibrium, where everything is balanced, progress as something comes along to disrupt that equilibrium, and finally reach a resolution, when equilibrium is restored. Disruptions :   Disruptions in the story are events or occurrences that affect or put off the equilibrium. This in this is usually in the middle of the cycle in the narrative structure. Resolutions:   A resolution is where all of the story and the characters lives return to normal or when they learn to live - or adapt - to the new equilibrium New Equilibrium:   E quilibrium definition. A condition in which all influences acting cancel each other, so that a static or balanced situation results. In physics, equilibrium results from the cancellation of forces acting on an object. In The Film: Equilibrium: Emmet i...

Mojo Double Page Spread Analysis

Image
Colour Pallet The colour pallet is an easy colour pallet on your eyes. This colour pallet shows off a natural colouring that is pleasing to the eye. The colours blend well together with the natural looking colours, the dark but almost light looking colours and the brown mixed with the reds, yellows and whites. Although these colours are varied, they work well together.

Analysing Mojo Content Page

Image
Analysing Mojo Contents Page Masthead The masthead is bright, bold and links in with the colour of the cloths of the person in front. This can connote a link between the contents page title and the main person which the magazine would be about. Another factor that makes the masthead attractive is the fact that it is in full caps. Connotations of full caps can be: important, required or to put an emphasis. This could mean that, through the title (and its connotations), the title puts a required, important emphasis on the title. Colour Pallet The colour pallet involved is compiled of colours usually found in flags (red, white and blues). This factor of the colour pallet can connote the use of patriotism. This factor can make the magazine more appealing to the countries that are more patriotic than others. Imagery The imagery used in the contents page is a page of two people that look like they have a fair amount of money. This is shown by the way they dress, thei...
